About Dixie Collection
Where It All Began
In 1979 I began a new hobby of moulding, painting and firing Porcelain Dolls & Doll Kits. These were 6” – 30” tall.
I designed my own period clothes patterns for the dolls (which I found very interesting), and dressed the dolls I had made. I then started to run a Mail Order Business in 1986 selling them to collectors of dolls, and to customers who wanted to assemble dolls and then dress them.
After finding it very difficult to locate tiny items for accessories, buttons & buckles, narrow trimmings & ribbons, cotton lace, and even suitable fine fabrics with small designs, plus tools and kits for those interested in making there own roses, bows, hats, wigs etc. I added those items to my mail order catalogue.
After running a dollhouse shop for 13 years (which I closed in February 2002), I now run the mail order business, focusing mainly on people who make and assemble dolls houses, and dress 1/12th miniature dolls for a hobby.
Into The New Millenium
I now market 1/12th Scale size Porcelain Doll kits and dolls, and 1/12th Scale size clothes patterns (for both Knitting and Sewing) plus all the haberdashery mentioned above, including Knitting Needles, beads, glues, stencils, polymer clays for makers, and also some miniatures.
Ribbon Embroidery has been quite popular for the last few years, and the Silk Ribbon I sell is ideal for this, as it is soft and narrow enough to sew through many types of fabric.
